The Eastern Oyster first arrived in the Chesapeake Bay over 5,000 years ago. In fact, our beloved bay gets its name from these little creatures, derived from an Algonquian word that means “Great Shellfish Bay.” At the time, oysters were everywhere – but today they’ve been overharvested, and our local communities have been at work to restore our oyster count by managing harvests, establishing sanctuaries, and overcoming disease.
We’ve pulled inspiration from these marvelous creatures for our latest timepiece – the dial a stunning iridescent mother of pearl, the face a shade of blue inspired by clean, healthy waters, and the strap tan inspired by the color of an oyster shell. This is your chance to not only sport your local pride, but to wear a watch that encapsulates 5,000 years of Maryland history with each tick.
